Great emphasis is placed upon developing the students’ ongoing skills and curiosity about their surroundings, which is supported through fieldwork and visits. In the lower school students are taught in mixed ability groups in Year 7 and are then set in Years 8 and 9. The course fully covers the requirements of the National Curriculum for History, Geography and Religious Education through a variety of topics covering local, natural and global issues. At Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to follow full GCSE courses in Geography and History and also have the opportunity to achieve a half GCSE in Religious Education. Students consistently achieve at or around the national average in Geography, History and Religious Education GCSE courses.
