Year 8 Taster Sessions
Year 8
students all have a term long introduction to Business Studies
that covers the following topics.

Marketing
-
Business Terms
-
Practical finance
In
addition to this the students undertake the ‘Stockmarket
challenge’ which allows them to follow the investment of an
imaginary £100,000 over a period of 10 weeks with weekly prizes
for the best achievers.
Year 10 and 11 GCSE Business Studies
The
college provides the Edexcel single GCSE business studies course
and this takes the business principles that were looked at in
Year 8 to a higher level. The course allows students to gain an
insight into different aspects of the working world. The course
aims to provide a qualification that is both useful if going
onto further education or straight into the workplace. The unit
content is set out below and is assessed in the form of a two
hour examination (75%) and one piece of coursework (25%).
